RPL — Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

At Atlas College, we understand that learning happens in many ways—through work experience, previous studies, and hands-on skills gained over time. Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program allows you to turn your existing knowledge and experience into formal qualifications, helping you advance your career in the automotive industry faster.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning helps you get certified in Australia. RPL is a process that assesses your existing skills, experience and study against the requirements of a nationally recognised Australian qualification. Instead of repeating training in areas where you are already competent, you can receive credit for what you already know, saving you time and money.

Successfully demonstrate your abilities and competency on specific units and its requirements and you have the potential to achieve your qualification without any repeated learning through the RPL skills assessment process.

Why Choose RPL?

✔ Save time and fast-track your qualification with experience evidence
✔ Reduce training costs by recognising existing skills. You can save up to 75% of full-time course fee
✔ Enhance your career opportunities and earning potential
✔ Meet industry standards with formal certification

✔ Use RPL as a path way to higher level skills or further study

Who Can Apply for RPL?

You may be eligible for RPL if you have:

  • Experience working in the relevant trade and industry skill (e.g., as a mechanic, technician, or auto electrician)

  • Completed previous training or apprenticeships via internship, volunteer work or similar initiatives

  • Practical skills developed through on-the-job training

  • Relevant industry certifications or informal learning

  • Overseas experience and qualification

We recommend you to get a Free Assessment of your circumstances to confirm if you are eligible for RPL. We can also recommend other training options that will fill any gaps in your skillset to get a RPL.
